Anti-Bias Statement
As Presbyterians, we affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every individual, recognizing that all people are created in the image of God.
Therefore, it is incumbent upon us to uphold the principles of justice, equity, and compassion in our churches and in all aspects of our lives.
Implicit or explicit bias runs counter to these principles, as it distorts our perceptions and actions, leading to unfair treatment and systemic injustices. As followers of Christ, we are called to love our neighbors as ourselves and to seek justice for all.
By actively challenging and dismantling biases, we create communities that reflect the inclusive love of God, where all individuals are valued and respected. This not only strengthens our bonds as a community but also allows us to more fully embody the teachings of Jesus Christ.
The Synod of Lincoln Trails commits itself to recognizing and confronting biases within its structures and communities, so that all people are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve as beloved children of God.
